Large-scale Russian Strikes Cut Electricity Throughout Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while local people in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and dealt with interruptions to water supplies, according to municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, as reported by regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty rockets attacked energy facilities, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to restore power.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by city authorities.

Local officials said the urban area came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor died and multiple civilians were injured.

The attacks succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the area, sections of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were anticipating additional strikes.
